Diners overwhelmingly call out the signature dish as the must-order. The vibe reads as vegan restaurant — service is consistently described as warm and unhurried. Common gotcha: queues form at peak times — go early or late.

Excerpts

Where to start with the experience at aiso... Well easy meso happy I gave this place a try. With no expectations and in company of good friends I was just happy to try a new place and hopefully one that could lift the average food experience in the Castro. Well they didn't disappoint, pretty much every dish but one is a thumbs up. Loved the beet tartare, the sliders, the yucca and the udon. Not so much the pesto rigatoni. The rigatoni felt a bit on the dry side and the pesto overpowering. The sliders were super balanced in texture and flavor and the beet salad was a pure joy , the cucumber just the right crunch and the beet adding that slight sweet and citrus flavor, beautiful. The service was lovely and attentive. I wish the restaurant owner would invest into a new door closer, the current one stops short and leaves the door open and the front of the restaurant a bit in the cold side. Luckily our waiter added the frequent closing of the door to her duties . Great experience, doesn't matter if your vegan vegetarian or love your meat, the dishes will appeal to your taste buds.

Aíso in the Castro District was absolutely incredible. ✨ San Francisco continues to raise the bar for plant-based dining, and Aíso is a perfect example of how elevated, thoughtful, and exciting vegan cuisine can be. From the moment we sat down in the warm candlelit space, it felt intimate and intentional — rustic wood tables, beautiful plating, and a menu that celebrates bold flavors and texture. The roasted cauliflower over silky purée with bright pickled accents was comforting yet refined. The sautéed mushrooms with fresh herbs and lime were deeply savory and beautifully balanced. And that golden soup topped with seeds, chili flakes, and fresh greens? Pure warmth with layers of spice and crunch. Every dish felt crafted — not just “vegan,” but creative, soulful, and memorable. If you’re in the Castro and looking for a plant-based experience that truly delivers, Aíso is a must. San Francisco magic at its best. 🌿🍷
