Diners overwhelmingly call out the signature dish as the must-order. The vibe reads as vegan restaurant — service is consistently described as warm and unhurried. Common gotcha: queues form at peak times — go early or late.

Excerpts

Avenue Eats in Wheeling, WV is easily one of my favorite burger spots in town. Their roasted jalapeño and smoked gouda burger is packed with flavor, and the hand-cut fries with gravy are a must-try. The atmosphere is fun and laid-back, with a cool interior design and a beautiful river view that makes it stand out. The staff is always friendly and helpful, which just adds to the experience. I even did a full video showcasing them recently because it’s the kind of local gem I’m proud to share. As part of Remax Broadwater: Team WolfePack, I love pointing people toward places like Avenue Eats that make Wheeling such a great place to live.

So happy to have found another restaurant in the valley with gluten free options! I would suggest putting it on your menu/website though as we took a leap of faith from other sources saying there were GF buns. I got the Gouda burger on a gluten free bun with a side salad. The burger and bun were delicious! They did mention there is no dedicated fryer for fries, but the side salad with balsamic vinaigrette was really good! My husband got the poutine and loved it. Overall a great experience and we will be back!

I honestly feel like I went there on an off day. Simply because I have heard really great feedback from others that dine there. I definitely would say it is a place more suited for a younger crowd. It has that industrial decor and uncomfortable hard seating which only a twenty and thirty something crowd enjoys. You have to order your own drinks and food which when dining out, I hate. If I am paying over 40 bucks to eat, I want to be waited on. The location is wonderful. The Wheeling Nailers building is down the block, and you get views of the river. Now onto the food... It is ok. It is not the best burger in town. The fries are fresh and delicious. Perfectly salted. The wings are cooked well, but I disliked the sauces. I tried the Mediterranean and the Buffalo. Both are a no go unless you enjoy spongey weird cheese on your wings and/or a strong vinegar-based sauce (Their Buffalo). A balsamic sandwich was also ordered and just too sweet. It was busy and I can tell the locals like to hang out there. I would as well if I could bring a cushion for the seat and have better food. I would say go for the view and some pretty good fries. Go somewhere else for anything else.
