Diners overwhelmingly call out the signature dish as the must-order. The vibe reads as vegan restaurant — service is consistently described as warm and unhurried. Common gotcha: queues form at peak times — go early or late.

Excerpts

I absolutely LOVE Basil 1791 and come here often because the food is always on point—no matter if it’s brunch (the best meal of the day, hands down!), lunch, dinner, or happy hour. The weekly specials make it easy to enjoy great food without breaking the bank, and the vibe is always top tier. We had brunch today and it did not disappoint! The staff was friendly and informative, and the flavors? So good, I’m already planning my next visit. If you haven’t been to Basil 1791 yet—go ahead and treat yourself. You won’t regret it!

Fantastic menu. Lots of Thai dishes, some other Asian dishes- menu is large. Atmosphere is somewhere between the polished mom & pop Thai place and a modern chain restaurant, surprisingly pleasing to capture both feelings. Service was prompt and friendly, patient and attentive. The food... out of this world! I had the Volcano roll and the Spicy Garlic Fish. The Volvano roll was very good. The scallops were nice and tender. With the topping the roll was cut a little bigger than I wanted, but flavor was awesome. The fish is grouper with peppers and a garlic sauce. I ordered it 4/5 on heat level and it was very spicy, not Thai hot, but still hot. The garlic sauce was a little sweet, but it worked with the lightly starched fish. This dish is a 10/10 and I will be back to order it again. I want to cone tomorrow for lunch to try some of the other classical Thai dishes.

I used to be a big fan but not so much anymore. I’m a vegetarian and a big no for me is having MEAT IN MY FOOD (bare minimum requirement, you’d think) Various times I’ve ordered tofu fried rice, I’ve had chicken pieces in them. The items weren’t billed out and they offered to make it again and put chicken pieces in it again. Nothing is more disheartening as a vegetarian to find out that your food literally has chicken in it. I do not order their rices anymore bc of how much that disturbed me. Vegetarians, do NOT get their rice items, it’s not worth the anguish. Get their sushi, get their appetizers (Thai crispy eggplant is good and their vegetarian egg roll too) but don’t get the fried rice!! Their service is nice and the waiters are the sweetest but make sure if you’re vegetarian, you’re not getting the fried rice.
