Let me start by saying THANK YOU JESSICA You are AWESOME!! Just when I thought my 28th year wedding anniversary dinner was not going to happen. You went above and beyond to make it happen. We waited by the next door dive bar and you text us as you said you would but the surprise was when we came back to check in thinking we were going to eat at the bar. You instead took us to a booth on the right side of restaurant in a cozy corner and with a beautiful setting may I add flower 💐 and my special card “28 years” signed by all that was very Meaningful to us! Thank you. Our waiter you were amazing ! Thank you 😊 now to The Food WOW 🤩 it was delicious and so tasty from the raw oysters to the NY strip with cooked oysters and that gnocchi to die for WOW 🤩 the Belgium chocolate cake. I am still dreaming of this food. I can’t say it enough how grateful we are for J Carver by far my favorite place #1 in Austin . If I can give you 10 stars ⭐️ or more I would. ★★★★★ We celebrated our 3rd anniversary at J Carver’s Oyster Bar & Chop House, and the experience was elevated because of Nora and Kara. Nora, our waitress, struck the perfect balance between attentive and relaxed. She knew the menu inside and out, gave clear recommendations, and timed everything exactly right. Our drinks were never empty, courses arrived at the right pace, and she made us feel like we were the only table in the room. You can tell when someone genuinely enjoys what they do, and Nora does. Kara, the GM, went out of her way to check in on us and make sure our anniversary felt special. That kind of leadership shows. When the GM is present, engaged, and hands on, the entire restaurant runs differently. It felt intentional, not transactional. If you are celebrating something important, this is the kind of team you want taking care of you. We will be back.

We arrived a little earlier than our reservation, and thankfully they were able to seat us almost an hour ahead, which was great. The service was excellent, our waiter was attentive and friendly throughout the evening. 100 points for him! That said, I did feel the pacing between courses was quite slow. The escargots were delicious, the Caesar salad was very good, and the center cut steak was flavorful, although the portion seemed smaller than expected. The fries, on the other hand, were outstanding! One really fun touch: you can actually choose what type of knife you want to use for your steak, which is different and cool. What I do think needs attention is the dress code. This is a high-end restaurant that promotes a business casual environment, yet several tables around us had guests wearing baseball caps during dinner, and at one point a man came in wearing denim shorts and a hat. In my opinion, that shouldn’t be acceptable for a restaurant that presents itself as fine dining — it takes away from the overall elevated experience that J Carver’s is clearly trying to offer.
