Diners overwhelmingly call out the signature dish as the must-order. The vibe reads as vegan restaurant — service is consistently described as warm and unhurried. Common gotcha: queues form at peak times — go early or late.

Excerpts

The owner is a well known and appreciated local chef. Show Pony is in the unique and friendly Grandin Village, the restaurant carries this tradition forward. The menu is filled with terrific variations of favorite foods done in ways you likely have never experienced. A number of gluten free and vegan options are included. Selections include a trout rueben, oysters, a terrific Ramen dish with meat and other add ins. Those who know me are aware that I enjoy and know mushrooms well so I was happy to find a Maitake (hen of the woods) appetizer that was killer. Drinks are expertly prepared and a varied selection of old favorites along with some upscale options. Overall it's an enjoyable culinary experience backed up by kitchen pros that know what they are doing while maintaining a comfortable fun atmosphere that is never pretentious. Definitely worth a visit.

I had a fabulous experience at Show Pony. I had a couple of their featured cocktails and shared the 'chicken fried hen of the woods mushrooms'. That was delicious. This is the first place that had Chartreuse available! "Chartreuse, the liquor so good they named a color after it" - Quentin Tarantino

I really wanted to like this place. I was so excited about a new place coming to the neighborhood. I loved the concept but don’t think the execution of it was great. The music was so loud I couldn’t hear the person talk on the other side of the table from me. We ordered the cauliflower appetizer, it tasted like blanched cauliflower and soy sauce. We paid $45 for 2 mixed drinks ($14 each) and a cauliflower appetizer. The whole menu was either vegan, gf, or vegetarian. While I love having those options, add a staple to the menu that isn’t vegan. I wish this was more of a hit than a miss.
