Diners overwhelmingly call out the signature dish as the must-order. The vibe reads as vegan restaurant — service is consistently described as warm and unhurried. Common gotcha: queues form at peak times — go early or late.

Excerpts

Who'd have thought I'd find the hands down, absolute BEST BURGER I've ever eaten, here in Anchorage, AK. Order their Bacon Jam Burger. It was an absolute gem: a great burger actually starts with the bun and this one was top notch, standing up to all of the goodness inside! Burger was top notch but what really separated this from the pack was the thoughtful accoutrements: bacon/fig jam, melted cambozola cheese, fresh arugula and house mayo! The flavor combinations and textures were extraordinary. The roasted beet side dish also fantastic. The beets were roasted to perfection and topped with a pomegranate reduction glaze - SO GOOD! It gets better! Our waitress recommended the Banana Cream Pie which was spectacular. Served in a large ramekin, it was unreal. We shared all of this feedback with the manager on duty and asked for the chef to come out so we could thank him as well. Service was friendly and professional, ambiance was cozy and relaxed. Very clean and the place was full on a Wednesday night - as you'd expect from a restaurant of this quality. You can tell the owners have their eye on the ball here - it's all in the details. I'd drive out of my way to come back and will also be visiting their sister restaurant, South, this coming Saturday morning! Can't wait to see what their breakfasts are like!

Spenard Roadhouse for breakfast today!! Had the Cajun Reindeer Scramble It has a nice flavor to it but one note texture wise, soft and mushy, the Reindeer slices could have been seared with a slight crust before burnt to give it more of a bite to it, that would have made a world of difference. My order didn't have the sautéed mushrooms, they were out at that moment , lol but got some just as my order came out , without the mushrooms, wouldn't have helped texture wise. Good flavor but wouldn't order again due to texture. It did have a side of hashbrowns that looked ok but properly salted and better crunch then visual appeal. Toast was good. I like when toad is pre buttered for you but that is my preference due to butter melted better in to it. Possibly better with maybe crunchy fried okra or and plump Cajun shrimp?? Oh had the Roadhouse Bloody Mary with the Smoky Ghost Chilli 🌶 house infused vodka. Now that was pretty good, personally next time I would request more horseradish and maybe more Worcestershire. Overall my meal was good, not great Would try again with something different Service was quick and polite

Came here for dinner with work group. The waitress was a little "meh". She didn't seem too thrilled to be serving our table of 4. She seemed more interested in the table of 1 or 2 across the way. Took a while to get her to take our order. She was good to offer recommendations. We got the fried calamari, baked ravioli for appetizers. We ordered the Korean rice bowl bowl, avocado sandwich, grilled chicken and charred Brussels sprouts. The calamari was large pieces and appeared to be hand breaded. The baked ravioli was a little too crunchy for our likes, but the green pesto sauce was awesome. Sandwich and chicken were okay, nothing earth shattering. The Korean rice bowl was great. Added shrimp. Spicy and flavorful. We were too full to get dessert but they had great options. Wish the service was a little better.
