Diners overwhelmingly call out the signature dish as the must-order. The vibe reads as vegan restaurant — service is consistently described as warm and unhurried. Common gotcha: queues form at peak times — go early or late.

Excerpts

I might have just actually ascended to a higher plane of Houma's existence. Listen, I didn't just have lunch at 531 Liberty Cafe today; I had a spiritual awakening disguised as a three-course fever dream. It started with their Double House Margarita on the rocks. It was quite libatious (my new favorite word, thank you) with enough salt to satisfy a Victorian sailor. It was the perfect, limy pucker kick-off of what evolved into a culinary marathon. "Sensational" is a polite word for the Ahi Tuna Salad. In reality, it was so fresh I half-expected it to start telling me secrets of the deep sea. Light & vibrant, this merman masterpiece made me feel like I was making healthy life choices—which was important, because then the burger arrived. The Bacon Jam Burger. Good grief. This isn't just a "next level" burger; this burger has moved out of the building, bought its own skyscraper, and is currently looking down on all other sandwiches with pity. The bacon jam is a sweet, smoky bear hug all the way around your soul. Out of this world. I’m reasonably sure I saw a UFO hovering over the cafe sniffing it out. 5 stars all around. If you’re in Houma and you aren't eating here, I honestly don’t know what you’re doing with your life. Go for the tuna, stay for the jam, and always extra salt on that rita, cuz sometimes life be salty like that. You’re welcome!

Excellent food, very fresh ingredients. We had the Shrimp pasta and the bacon jam burger. I customized the pasta w extra shrimp and bacon and it was very, very good. We had the empanadas as an app and the bread pudding for dessert. Great service, owner came to the table to check on us, really enjoyed our visit. We will definitely come back.

Great atmosphere! There’s plenty of seating options: downstairs and upstairs (both inside and outside). The empanadas were so good! Drinks are favorable. Service was perfect. I highly suggest stopping in for a meal!
