Diners overwhelmingly call out the signature dish as the must-order. The vibe reads as vegan restaurant — service is consistently described as warm and unhurried. Common gotcha: queues form at peak times — go early or late.

Excerpts

Aama’s Kitchen in Hayward is a hidden gem for anyone seeking excellent food packed with bold, authentic flavors. The dishes are deeply satisfying, clearly made with care, and reflect the kind of home-style cooking that keeps you thinking about the meal long after it’s over. From the spices to the textures, every bite feels intentional and well-balanced, making this spot stand out among local options. While most customers seem to order takeout, dining in is highly recommended. The ambiance itself is modest and not particularly polished, but the food more than compensates for it. Eating fresh from the kitchen allows you to fully appreciate the flavors as they’re meant to be enjoyed. One thing to note is that street parking can be a challenge, so plan a bit of extra time when visiting. A big highlight of the experience is the host, Santosh, a native of Nepal. He is genuinely a delight to talk to and takes the time to explain the dishes, ingredients, and cooking process with pride and enthusiasm. His warmth adds a personal touch that elevates the visit beyond just a meal. Another major plus is that Aama’s Kitchen is open late, serving food until 2 a.m., making it a fantastic option for late-night cravings. Overall, it’s a must-visit for flavor-driven food lovers.

Wow yummy 😋 wow! First time here and it was an explosion of amazing different flavors in my mouth ♥️ Santos our waiter was extremely attentive and nice. He really listened when I said to please custom make my food NOT SPICY which is hard in Nepalese and Indian cuisine as spicy food is in almost every dish. The food was very tasteful, full of spices and love the presentation of the food. This is the kind of place that is only an article away from being thrown into the spotlight and needing reservations. I will absolutely come back with family! We ordered the Lamb Nepali Thali which brings all kinds of extra sides, the chicken Tikka masala, Palak Paneer, Garlic cheese and Garlic cilantro Naans, Paneer Pakora and Dal soup. All super delicious and both lamb and chicken super tasty and perfectly cooked. If you are craving some kind of curry and food that will not dissapoint this is your place. Def wanna try the Biryani when I go again

Wow. Where to start. First I was greeting by the most wonderful manager. He took care of me throughout the meal. Thank you santos. You made this experience wonderful. Also the food. Amazing. The thali was perfect on every level. And the chicken couldn’t have been fresher and spiced better. The ambiance of the music and atmosphere was also well considered. I’ve been to Nepal. Twice. and this place holds up against anything there. I’ll definitely be back. And make sure you’re lucky enough to be taken care of by santos.
