Diners overwhelmingly call out the signature dish as the must-order. The vibe reads as vegan restaurant — service is consistently described as warm and unhurried. Common gotcha: queues form at peak times — go early or late.

Excerpts

I was very happy with my dinner at Amrit. I ordered the special Punjabi kadhi (onion pakoras in yogurt-based gravy) and Kashmiri naan (stuffed with coconut and dry fruits). The kadhi was flavourful and rich but not heavy or oily. I ordered it medium-hot and the spice level was just what I wanted. The naan also came out just right with a thick layer of delicious coconut-based stuffing inside. Portions are pretty generous. For me, it wasn't quite enough to split into two meals, but I was very full when I finished. Less than $20 before tip. I was there on a Monday, early evening, and was seated right away. The restaurant was moderately busy but not loud. Nice classy but comfortable atmosphere. This was right when school started at IU. My server was very polite. Another highlight is that it seems very vegan friendly, with a number of clearly labelled vegan dishes on the menu.

We sat down and waited about 20 minutes for someone to take our order. The food was speedy and spectacular, but we did watch them take orders of at least 3 tables before us that came in after us. A table that came in about 30 minutes after us were served, got their food and ate, and left before we even paid the bill. Not to mention we watched them refill everyone’s water BUT our table. Yes, we’re black. So um if you’re black maybe don’t expect the best customer service if you dine in, as they may be a tad bit racist. DoorDash it though, the food really is good.

I hadn’t eaten here since high school because I live so far now. I’m a doordasher and I get a lot of deliveries for this place, today I had to end my shift early to come back and order. I wish I dined in because tikka masala is messy😅 but I don’t regret a thing, not even the bit I got on my shirt. I got the garlic naan too, which was the perfect amount of garlic I got medium spicy tikka masala and it was the perfect amount of heat. Again I wish I dined in to get the best of the experience instead of sitting in my car like a goblin but I knew what I was getting myself into and I’ll probably do it again. I’m glad I finally made myself go back to get food. There’s still so many things I want to try here.
