Diners overwhelmingly call out the signature dish as the must-order. The vibe reads as vegan restaurant — service is consistently described as warm and unhurried. Common gotcha: queues form at peak times — go early or late.

Excerpts

I’m honestly very disappointed with the veg fried rice I ordered. I specifically asked for extra veggies, and yes they did add extra vegetables but unfortunately, most of them were almost raw and undercooked. It completely ruined the texture and overall experience. The biggest letdown was the taste. The fried rice did not have that authentic flavor you expect from something cooked in a proper Chinese wok. There was absolutely no smoky, burnt “wok hei” flavor that gives fried rice its signature taste. It honestly felt like plain rice tossed together rather than properly stir fried. If I’m being honest, it would have been better if I had just cooked some rice at home and mixed it with a packet of pre made salad veggies from Costco that’s how basic it tasted. The fried rice disappointed me sooooo much. That being said, I want to be fair the staff were friendly and informative, and the ambiance was clean and simple. Also, I’ve tried their dosas a few times before and they are really, really delicious!

Amrutha Villas has become one of my go-to spots in Carrollton. Their food is enjoyable, and the staff at the order counter are usually very cordial. I especially love their snack items — the samosas are great, and the gulgula plus Irani tea is a favorite in our home (my wife loves it!). They also have a fantastic biryani offer on Wednesdays, which is always worth the visit. I find myself stopping by regularly to grab chicke65 & Vijayawada Chicken biryani. Highly recommend for anyone craving solid South Indian and snack options in the area.

Went for the breakfast buffet on Sunday. The food was standard South Indian fare, by which I mean a cross between kannadiga, telegu and tamilian. Buffet had different types of mini dosas, idli, puri, vada, baats, chutneys, sambar etc. And at $11 per person, unlimited, it is a good deal. Quality is not in the league as a Saravana bhavan, but then neither are the prices, so it's fair. But here's the problem. Except for idli, most of the trays were empty most of the time. You would be standing in line waiting for food to be replenished, and the second it comes, everyone pounces, and blink and it's all over once again. I don't know if this was because we went on a Sunday morning, or whether this is how they control food portions/consumption, or they are genuinely short staffed, it made the experience terribly frustrating and unappealing. And tea/coffee is extra. I just wish they would increase prices and make it a more enjoyable and comprehensive experience. The atmosphere is typical cafe/mess hall. It's supposed to be self service, but read the paragraph above once again.
