My friend and I (we’re Chinese and Vietnamese) were on a mission to try out this restaurant because we saw that it was always packed, sometimes with the line out the door. We finally went on a very cold Saturday at 2pm in the afternoon and still had to wait 2 minutes for a table to leave - that’s how popular this place is. I’ve had South Indian food twice in my life and my friend has never tried it. We ordered the Onion Chili Rava Masala Dosa, Samosa chaat, Pav Bhaji, and Baby Corn Majestic. We also ordered the BB special Dosa per the waitress’ suggestion, which turned out to be our favorite dish. I greatly enjoyed the filter coffee, masala chai and mango lassi too. All the servers were so attentive, lovely and beautiful people :) As non-Indians, we so appreciated how our server proactively asked if we’d been there before and gave great recommendations. The food tasted delicious, some dishes may be a challenge for those not used to some spice. It’s worth it, just get a mango lassi to cool off! In the end this was a lot of food for two people. I enjoyed the leftovers for the following two meals. No regrets! The total price came out to be $100 which was great considering all that we ordered.

Visited Balaji Bhavan Pure Vegetarian South Indian Restaurant yesterday and had an amazing experience. I tried the Masala Dosa, Punugulu, and filter coffee, along with peanut chutney, ginger chutney, and sambar—everything tasted absolutely delicious and authentic. The flavors were spot on and reminded me of traditional South Indian home-style food. The front staff was extremely polite, welcoming, and attentive, which made the visit even more pleasant. Every item we tried was exceptional, and the overall quality of food and service was outstanding. This restaurant truly stands out as the best part of Heights, Jersey City. There are very few proper Indian restaurants nearby, and Balaji Bhavan easily fills that gap. I’m definitely planning to visit every week and try new dishes. Highly recommended for anyone looking for authentic, pure vegetarian South Indian food in the area! 🌟

This review is purely from the English formed in my mind. Though the prices are a tad bit higher, the quantity and the taste are TOTALLY JUSTIFIED. the flavors are amazing, and for the first time, I enjoyed the Sambhar served with the dosa. The starters were great too. We had vada and Mysore bonda and they were very tasty. Everything is fresh and served hot. Coffee is amazing too. You can choose between light medium and strong. I have to give a warning for people who don't prefer spicy food, if they have mentioned in the menu that it's spicy, they actually men it. The Guntur Karam dosa is spicy and true to the Andhra level of spice😂 But will definitely recommend
