Diners overwhelmingly call out the signature dish as the must-order. The vibe reads as vegan restaurant — service is consistently described as warm and unhurried. Common gotcha: queues form at peak times — go early or late.

Excerpts

Farm-to-table Italian restaurant in the middle of the desert? Why not! I came to Birba with a group of friends for dinner. The menu prices were a little sus, but a lot of the items sounded interesting with a Californian flair. Apps: * Rainbow beet salad: refreshing, a good choice if you like beets * Brussels sprouts cacio e pepe: I like how this wasn't flash-fried and greasy, great option for a veggie dish * Fried squash blossom: tastes like a fritter, everyone loved this but I thought it wasn't too special * Meatballs: probably my favorite, well-seasoned combo of beef and pork, could have been spicier Pastas: * Tortellini: we were expected a normal plate size, so we all laughed when the dish arrived with literally 6 tiny tortellinis (there were 6 in our group so it worked out, but each was like half-a-bite-sized). It was decent but not mind-blowing. I think the limited quantity made it tastier * Rigatoni: nothing special imo Pizzas: Crust was thin so you have to eat it quickly before it gets soggy * Birba: the sweet and spicy overtones were amazing * Homemade classic: lots of mushrooms and sausage Overall, the ingredients are fresh and the flavors are on point. I love how they make a lot of their cheeses in-house too. Servers were friendly and helpful in making sure our apps had the right portion sizes. Vibes are cute with the patio seating and fairy lights in the front section, and the heat lamps keeps it warm and cozy.

Always love coming here while in Palm Springs. Drinks are good, service is incredible, food is solid, and ambience is so lovely. Outdoor patio seating with heat lamps. I actually wasn’t on the mood to eat bread/carbs because I had already eaten a lot that day so I got the chicken entree. It was pretty good but not as good as the pizza or pasta dishes imo. The charcuterie appetizer is delicious as well as the antipasto salad. Would definitely return!

Surprisingly good food. We liked the black pepper tagliatelle the most with the birba pizza second. The tagliatelle had a really nice flavor and wasn’t too heavy. The pizza was sweet with a little bit of kick and deliciously meaty. We also ordered the Tutto carne pizza which was like a yummy meat lovers pizza. We had a lemon olive oil cake and tiramisu for dessert. The tiramisu was a little too mushy and not enough mascarpone but the lemon olive oil cake was nicely balanced, and tasty.
