Diners overwhelmingly call out the signature dish as the must-order. The vibe reads as vegan restaurant — service is consistently described as warm and unhurried. Common gotcha: queues form at peak times — go early or late.

Excerpts

This was my second trip to Brave Bean, and I’ve really enjoyed their lattes on my visits. The first trip, I tried both the signature French vanilla latte and signature pistachio latte, and they were both tremendous. On this trip, I had the 100 Grand signature latte (mocha, marshmallow, and caramel), and it was good, though I must say the pistachio latte is my absolute favorite. A big plus is that they offer decaf espresso options. The coffee options are also very affordable compared to other Pittsburgh-area shops. The staff is friendly, even under stress. Today was pretty busy in the cafe, but the staff (just one person when I first entered, but two by the time I ordered) handled the line well and I received my coffee in a very timely fashion. There are a few tables and chairs where you can enjoy your coffee, but this is also a coffee roasting facility and the store is more functional than it is a cozy and aesthetic coffee shop where you’d want to spend your day. They do still have the old bank vault that you can visit, though the lights were off today so you couldn’t see it in its full glory (and we didn’t want to bother the busy staff to ask!). It’s very nice to have a local coffee shop near the Monroeville area, I’d much rather support a local business when I can!

The coffee at brave bean is made with care from start to finish and you can taste the difference. The shop itself is nice and there is plenty of seating. Everything was very clean and organized when we were there. We both got fall drinks (I got psl, he got s'mores cold brew). They were both so good and not overly sweet or artificial tasting. The customer service was incredible. We will definitely be back!

Really nice coffee shop in Pitcairn, and I think they also have another location in the north side. Great backstory to it as well, with supporting numerous veteran initiatives. I got to try their latte and cafe au lait. Both were very nice, but in full honesty, I couldn’t really tell them apart by flavor alone (the latter was a bit smaller and they were served in different containers, that’s the only way I knew which was which). Both were definitely good, very fair price for a nice portion, and the flavor was good as well but it didn’t seem very standout. Still, I’m super glad this place exists in Pitcairn and will definitely be stopping by again whenever I’m in the area and will recommend to some friends.
