Diners overwhelmingly call out the signature dish as the must-order. The vibe reads as vegan restaurant — service is consistently described as warm and unhurried. Common gotcha: queues form at peak times — go early or late.

Excerpts

We had reservations for NYE at 8:00pm. We checked in right at 8 and we were told that they were just getting our table ready. At 8:30, we were still waiting. Other people were coming in and were being seated promptly (and their reservations were AFTER ours). The manager was extremely rude, did not apologize, and said "we were more than welcome to go eat somewhere else". When we asked how he would rectify this, he said he would comp us a dessert. We only ordered one dessert (the other couple did) and they said it wasnt on our bill. However, upon returning home, my fiance realized that we were charged for the dessert. All in all, the service was terrible, the food was mediocre and overpriced, and management needs a lesson in proper customer service.

We did not eat at this visit. We love this place for their oak bar at the front of the building. It was not open this time so we enjoyed our cosmopolitan and old fashioned in the Bukatini bar. This is a great building and I hope the new owners keep it as a restaurant and public space!

Some friends and I wanted to go to dinner before a show at the Cultural Center, so we decided on Bukatini. The main reason was location; but they also mentioned over the phone that they had “plenty of gluten free options” since my sister is Celiac. With that in mind, we were excited to try. Unfortunately, the person on the phone didn’t alert us that this night would have a shortened menu, thus eliminating any gluten free dishes available to my sister. When she asked what she could have, our server said he had nothing for her but a Caesar salad with grilled chicken. This would have been barely acceptable, but after an already hour-long wait, they gave her a Caesar salad with croutons, which she can’t have. She had to send it back and did receive a new one, but we were already running late for the show. They charged us for the salad regardless, and we had to rush out to make our show time even though our food reservation was at 5:45. Our server was apologetic throughout, but it is unacceptable to have a shortened menu and not cater at least one entree to an allergy you promised would be represented. I would not recommend this restaurant if you have an event to catch, have a time constraint, or are gluten free.
