I've been wanting to try this restaurant since I saw all the amazing reviews and it did not disappoint! The owner was so welcoming and thanked me for coming in and gave me little sample of a wrap... which was delicious! He was so appreciative and nice without being pushy! I got a pastrami sandwich and it was the best pastrami sandwich I've ever had! It had a lot of meat and the cheese and avocado just brings it to a different level! It also had thinly sliced red onions and I usually don't like crunchy onions in my sandwiches but this gave it great flavor and it wasn't too much and because it was thinly sliced it added the perfect amount of flavor without too much crunch. Also the sauce on here was delicious! It came with a lot which I love but if you don't like sauce I'm sure you could ask for light sauce! My friend also got the veggie sandwich and she said it was amazingly delicious! We will definitely be going back! This did not disappoint!

4.6/5 ### C&R Fresh Foods: Where Avocado Meets Pastrami in Sandwich Heaven Tucked into the bustling streets of West Covina, California, at 301 N Azusa Ave, C&R Fresh Foods is more than just a neighborhood market—it's a hidden gem for anyone seeking inventive, health-conscious eats that don't skimp on flavor. Opened with a focus on fresh, locally sourced ingredients, this spot blends SoCal's love for avocados with classic deli staples, creating a menu that's as vibrant as it is satisfying. The interior is bright and airy, with a casual counter-service setup that invites quick grabs or leisurely seating amid shelves stocked with organic produce and house-made smoothies. Open daily from 7 AM to 8 PM, it's a reliable lunch haven for commuters and families alike, with prices that keep things accessible—sandwiches run $10-14, a bargain for the quality. But the real star, the one that earns its stripes in rave reviews, is the Avocado Pastrami Sandwich on Sourdough—a masterful twist on the deli classic that clocks in at around $12.99. Picture this: two thick slices of crusty, tangy sourdough, baked fresh that morning with a subtle chew that stands up to every layer. Piled high is thinly sliced, house-brined pastrami, smoky and spiced with black pepper and coriander for that authentic New York bite, but tender enough to melt in your mouth without a fight. Then comes the hero: creamy, ripe California avocado, mashed just so with a squeeze of lime to keep it bright and prevent any mushy regret. It's layered with crisp romaine, thin red onion rings for a sharp kick, beefsteak tomato slices bursting with summer juiciness, and a generous schmear of Dijon mustard that ties the savory-spicy notes together. Optional Swiss cheese adds a nutty melt if you're feeling indulgent, but even au naturel, this sandwich is a flavor powerhouse—earthy avocado cooling the pastrami's heat, all cradled in that sourdough's fermented tang. I devoured mine on a sunny patio table, and every bite was a revelation: the bread's crust crackling under teeth, giving way to a harmonious stack where no ingredient overpowers. It's hearty yet light, thanks to the avocado's healthy fats, making it feel nourishing rather than heavy. Paired with a side of their kettle chips or a refreshing cucumber-mint smoothie (try it for $6), it's the perfect midday reset. Service is spot-on—friendly staff who remember regulars and offer tweaks like extra avocado without batting an eye. With a stellar 4.6/5 rating on Yelp from over 150 reviews, locals can't stop buzzing about this sandwich's freshness and innovation, often calling it "the best pastrami upgrade in the San Gabriel Valley." I've brought friends from LA proper, and they've all left converts. If you're wandering West Covina craving something elevated yet comforting, C&R's Avocado Pastrami on Sourdough is your ticket to bliss. It's not just lunch; it's a love letter to bold, balanced bites.

Wow!! Was passing through and happened to choose this amazing spot! I got their rancho breakfast burrito and you can just tell how fresh everything was! I live in Oceanside and would come back just to try their lunch items. The two working were so friendly as well!! Wish I had a restaurant like this closer to me as I would dine there weekly!!
