Best restaurant in Blacksburg!! I got the drunken noodles, HOT, and they were so good. Portions are huge, couldn’t finish my meal. There was so much protein in it, too. The owner is so kind and attentive! She was checking up on every table, cleaning, serving, all of the above. Great place to eat in the winter, especially.

Cafe Mekong has been my favorite restaurant for about 12 years now, and that hasn’t changed for a single moment. I have been coming here since 2013 so I can confidently say I’ve tried nearly everything on the menu, and I have never had a dish I didn’t love. My go-to favorites are the Szechwan beef noodle soup, the bún, and the newly added tom yum soup, which instantly earned a permanent place in my rotation. My go-to appetizer is the chicken satay, which is always a divine treat. And their Thai iced tea is, without a doubt, my favorite in the area. Many dishes allow you to choose your protein, which makes the menu very vegetarian-friendly, and during the years I was vegetarian, I never struggled to find options. The food alone would keep me coming back, but the service is always wonderful, ESPECIALLY the manager. She is genuinely one of the sweetest people I have ever met. Even when she’s clearly swamped, she always takes the time to stop and say hi, which never fails to leave me smiling and in a great mood. To say that I love this restaurant is putting it lightly. I usually eat Cafe Mekong at least once a week (or order takeout) and I have no plans of stopping anytime soon. It is a place I will return to again and again because it is consistently exceptional in every way.
