Diners overwhelmingly call out the signature dish as the must-order. The vibe reads as vegan restaurant — service is consistently described as warm and unhurried. Common gotcha: queues form at peak times — go early or late.

Excerpts

Amazing food and exceptional service. I visited Salt Lake City for a week, and the restaurant was so good that my family ate here four times during our trip. I have dairy and egg allergies, and the staff was very accommodating! they clearly explained the ingredients in each dish and made sure my needs were met. They also offer a great selection of vegan and vegetarian options. I highly recommend the momo and the fried pork.

What a fire place to eat in the avenues! The service was phenomenal, every employee was super friendly and helpful. It’s small, cozy, clean, and the food was delicious. I had the chicken curry, and loved it!! Great flavor, definitely different than Indian curry, but so good. They have a lot to choose from on their menu, but just ask the server and they’ll give good recommendations.

I came here on a sad day. I was feeling melancholy and knew that I would feel happier if I tried a family owed restaurant, ideally with cuisine I’ve never had. Tibetan food is so delicious, I love it now thanks to Cafe Shambala. The beef momos and mango lassi made me instantly happy. What a beautiful restaurant with kind people.
