Diners overwhelmingly call out the signature dish as the must-order. The vibe reads as vegan restaurant — service is consistently described as warm and unhurried. Common gotcha: queues form at peak times — go early or late.

Excerpts

What a wonderful addition to Castro Valley! The marketplace offers a great mix of restaurants featuring a variety of cuisines, making it easy for everyone to find something they love. Personally, I love the baguettes from the bakery — always fresh and delicious. Akemi Sushi is very good, and a consistent favorite. My family loves the French Dip Brisket Banh Mi from Pho 510, while I usually go for their vermicelli bowl. The butcher shop offers high-quality meats and seafood, and their staff is always friendly and knowledgeable. Amphora Olive Oil Company carries a huge selection of olive oils and balsamic vinegars with lots of interesting infused flavors. I use their house blend olive oil for all my cooking and salad dressings — it’s fantastic. Their traditional balsamic vinegar is a staple in my kitchen, and while the lychee balsamic is full of flavor, it’s just a tad on the sweeter side. I’m looking forward to trying more of their flavors! CV Natural Grocery may be small, but it carries all the daily staples plus a good variety of unique products from local producers. They also have a nice selection of canned craft beers and beverages from local breweries. It’s truly a great place for family gatherings or meeting up with friends. The shared common-area tables make it easy for everyone to order from different spots and still enjoy a meal together. Such a fantastic community space!

The whole building has a retro feel, with restaurants and a supermarket inside. I haven’t seen a supermarket like this in a long time. It feels very special and like going back in time! Restaurant : Chinese dumplings Pizza Pho Sushi Cream papa Bakery Mexican food + nature food market

Cute local spot that had changed drastically over the years. This place has some really good variety in food and drink selection. Upstairs has a few comforting restaurants. I enjoyed the Puerto Rican food this time. They had some of the best sauces to compliment the food we ordered. The place was decorated very well and gave it a more authentic feeling. Loved the food. Had some of the best tostones (twice fried plantains) I've had in years, and I mean that! The appetizer menu this time was enough to satisfy us for a dinner for two.
