Diners overwhelmingly call out the signature dish as the must-order. The vibe reads as vegan restaurant — service is consistently described as warm and unhurried. Common gotcha: queues form at peak times — go early or late.

Excerpts

This review is a long time coming because we’ve been coming to City Market Bistro for years, and it has never disappointed. Their wine dinners are some of the best around and always memorable. On our most recent visit during a busy Thursday festival, we sat outside for dinner and ordered a bottle of Cotes du Rhone. We started with the foie gras appetizer, which was decadent and came with fig jam. My wife ordered the scallops, cooked flawlessly, and I went with the tenderloin medallions, which were tender and flavorful. Dan took care of us, as he has many times over the years. He makes you feel like you’re catching up with an old friend. Chef Scott is incredibly talented yet so humble, and his food speaks for itself. After all of our visits, the experience remains consistently excellent. Highly recommended.

Another gem in NSB! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ City Market Bistro is truly one of the standout spots in New Smyrna Beach. We applaud this restaurant for its attention to detail, thoughtful décor filled with unique art, and high-quality ingredients that shine in every dish. One thing we absolutely loved is that the tables are lined with paper so guests can draw right at their seat—and if your artwork is good enough, they’ll even feature it on their website. An artist’s dream spot and such a fun, creative touch! We started with the French Onion Soup, which was warm, comforting, and beautifully nostalgic. The crab cake followed—fresh, creamy, and full of flavor, easily one of the best we’ve had in the area. For entrées, I ordered the Lamb Burger with fresh-cut French fries. The lamb patty was tender and packed with flavor—layered with feta, lettuce, tomato, pickled onion, herb aioli, all on a perfectly toasted brioche bun. My wife ordered the Grilled Chicken Sandwich, a true classic elevated with a bold, modern twist—Swiss cheese, crisp apples, and caramelized onions creating the perfect harmony of sweet and savory. Special shoutout to the chef: I asked for honey mustard, which they didn’t normally offer. Instead of turning the request away, the chef created his own version on the spot. Creamy, tangy, and crafted with care—it paired perfectly with my meal and showed the level of service this place stands for. We loved everything and will definitely be back

I’m very hard to please when it comes to dinning out. As a former Chef who grew up in a family restaurant I am picky and prefer to just cook myself. Especially now that customer service being somewhat of a lost art. So when it came time to choose yet another place to try for date night and a show at Brannon we chose City Market Bistro. I was not disappointed. From the atmosphere to the service and then the food. Everything was great. Chris was an awesome server. I will definitely be trying it again.
