This Inn is amazing! It's located less than a mile from downtown. The rooms are cute & clean with a private back porch. The bathroom is set up to accommodate older & handicap people with hand rails near the toilet & in the shower. BATHROOM BONUS is a heat lamp in the center of the room. The restaurant is just as amazing. A father & son duo cook the food. They are world travelers with training as excellent chefs. The dinner special from 5-6 p.m. is fantastic. We spent $100 for 2 with a glass of wine, bread, an appetizer, salad & main course each! The food was delicious & just as we finished one course, the next was being put down. I highly recommend staying here if you are in Clayton!

I wouldn’t particularly recommend this spot for a couple’s night out. When I arrived, the receptionist didn’t seem very welcoming, which set the tone a bit. I had booked the reservation for a friend’s birthday and added a note requesting a candle on a dessert, but it seemed that message didn’t reach our waitress. When she asked about dessert, we decided to skip it. We were seated between two small tables divided by a lattice-style fence, which didn’t offer much privacy, and there were a few empty martini glasses left nearby the seat. The food and atmosphere were just okay, and overall, I felt the experience didn’t quite match the price point.

We visited the Clipper Inn more than 20 years ago when we bought a property in the thousand islands area of New York and unfortunately, after ordering their most expensive seafood combination or disgusted when we received our dinner plates, …
