I gave 3 stars because this is a new family owned restaurant and I hope to see them grow and thrive in this city. The place was decently clean, and the food was edible. I immediately noticed that I did not see a single Japanese item on the menu, and I was disappointed because it was advertised online and on a sign outside the restaurant that there was Japanese cuisine. If they do sell it I was not offered that menu for some reason, so I settled for other fares. I ordered a passion fruit juice and a fresh squeezed lemonade, but the juices were not what I expected. The lemonade tasted like onion flavored water, and I didn’t taste anything lemon like in it which was concerning because lemons have a distinct flavor. I am grateful that they did not make me pay for that. The passion fruit juice was okay (watery & not cold) and I shared it with my daughter. As for the chicken burrito, I prefer my food to look yummy, so my burrito presentation was lackluster, and I found it disappointing that I found beef meat randomly in there (see photo). I always appreciate when a restaurant adds a bit of lettuce or beans and platanos on the side, so the plate is pretty. Or at least wrap it in foil or something. It looked sad (see photo). The best thing we ordered was the Cultura Mixta Toluqueño egg dish with tomatoes, jalapeños, and chorizo. My daughter especially enjoyed the chips and refried beans and eggs. I think this restaurant deserves a try, and I hope that I just caught it on an off day.
