Had breakfast at Cup Cafe while passing through Tucson on an Amtrak trip from Marshall, Texas, and it was an excellent stop. We sat outside on the patio which was a great choice. The morning was a little cool, but the patio heaters made it comfortable while still enjoying the fresh Tucson air. The outdoor seating area is really nice with trees, plenty of space between tables, and a relaxed downtown atmosphere. The food was exactly what you hope for when getting breakfast on the road. The pancakes were big, fluffy, and cooked perfectly. We also had eggs and bacon which were simple but done right. Coffee was hot and kept filled, which is always appreciated when starting the day. Service was friendly and everything came out quickly. The whole experience felt easy and welcoming. This was our first time ever visiting Tucson, and this place made a great first impression of the city. If you’re staying downtown or just passing through like we were, Cup Cafe is definitely worth stopping at for breakfast. I would absolutely eat here again on my next trip.

We are a longtime fans of the cup, but the last two times we have visited it has fallen short. I asked for a medium burger and it came out well done. The soup had absolutely zero flavor, and the server actually agreed. We love their strawberry cheesecake, but seasonally they were out of it this time. I hope they improve their food quality because their desserts remain always on point.

Traditionally we visit a different restaurant every Sunday morning for brekkie. Cup Cafe is inside the historic and very intriguing Hotel Congress. My hub and I both ordered The Deposition plus a lovely frothy cappuccino and a dang good cup of coffee. Breakfast was very good: the pancakes are nearly dinner plate sized with a side of whipped butter and real maple syrup. The eggs and bacon that came with it were done like we asked for: sunny side up and not too crispy bacon. Service was friendly and breakfast came quickly. On our bill below the tip a polite request to tip the cooks if we wished. We did-after all if the food isn’t well prepared the rest of the experience would leave us with a sad state taste of our breakfast. Good job chefs! We took time to poke around the hotel and appreciated its uniqueness. We also decided to walk off a little bit of our brekkie-a Sunday AM walk around the city is sweet! Still cool-quiet-free parking-and lots of cool things to see in that immediate area.
