Diners overwhelmingly call out the signature dish as the must-order. The vibe reads as vegan restaurant — service is consistently described as warm and unhurried. Common gotcha: queues form at peak times — go early or late.

Excerpts

Very friendly atmosphere, service was great. I had the Alaskan white fish, fries, hush puppies and a garden salad. It was really good. My husband had the sirloin tips, country potatoes and corn that he enjoyed. We also shared some fried mushrooms. Everything was really good. We have been twice and will go back.

We will definitely be back! We had some morning business in Morristown, so looked for a spot to have breakfast. We decided to try Davy Crocket. We were extremely pleased. The server was attentive and the decor was "country charm" but the food was amazing. Usually a breakfast out is pretty consistent from place to place and it's usually pretty good. Here, I highly recommend the breakfast potatoes because they're so good I'm going to dream about them! I also loved the toast, which sounds weird but it was like skillet toast rather than toaster toast. I would say it's like Texas toast, but to me that implies the bigger thick bread. This was just regular bread (I chose wheat toast) but it's yummy. I had the Western omelette, which was good. My husband had eggs, sausage, potatoes, and a pancake (substituted for b&g or toast). I had coffee and the top offs were just at the right time. We will definitely come back here whenever we're in town and need a meal.

This was our first time eating at Davy Crockett Restaurant. It couldn't have been more perfect! We were so pleased with the whole experience. My husband and I both had the daily special for Thursday which is turkey and gravy, two sides (I had mashed potatoes and green beans. He had mashed potatoes and fried okra), a roll or cornbread (we both had cornbread), and dressing. I never eat dressing. My husband ate his and said it was just ok. But he says that to anything that isn't amazing with three exclamation points. He also got apple cobbler. The total bill for both of us was just slightly more than we pay at other places for just one of us! Yes, we were very pleased and will definitely go back! Almost forgot to mention that the atmosphere, service and cleanliness were also top notch!
