Diners overwhelmingly call out the signature dish as the must-order. The vibe reads as vegan restaurant — service is consistently described as warm and unhurried. Common gotcha: queues form at peak times — go early or late.

Excerpts

I think I would just keel over and die if this restaurant wasn’t in Berea. If I didn’t have bills to pay I’d be there for every meal. I still go more than my Budget appreciates 🫠 The gorditas are to die for. Honestly, I haven’t had anything there that wasn’t delicious. Great people, great service, and delicious food. That said, it is definitely not your typical “American Mexican” restaurant, but I say that in delight. Don’t think about it, just go. Get a mangonada and a mango chili lollipop while you’re at it.

My son and I were in town dropping him back off at school and we decided on a little dinner before calling it an evening. My son recommended Dona Maria’s and authentic Mexican is always a favorite. Upon arrival and taking a moment to peruse the menu, I ordered three Carnitas Tacos and my son ordered the Birria Burrito and we sat ourselves. Our food arrived within a reasonable amount of time, the food was hot and delicious and we thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Dona Maria’s comes well recommended.

Stopped back in Berea, my home town, for a long weekend with family and friends. Had not been back in a couple of years, wonderful restaurant with reasonable prices, simple eating atmosphere and authentic food. Great to see that the City is growing with new locally owned business that provides more eating choices than just the old ice cream/gift shop that used to be on this corner. Ordered esquites, tamales (chicken/beef) and enmoladas. Thew wait for food was short, food was warm and delicious. Another attraction for when I return back to the special place of Berea, KY. I recommend to others. Great job Dona Maria's, very tasty.
