I absolutely love this coffee shop. The team is always so friendly and considerate, and their Barcelona coffee is unbeatable. Even when I already have food at home, I still find myself stopping by for their breakfast burrito or the turkey pesto sandwich—both are so good. The Old Hickory location is my favorite; the porch and cozy aesthetic make it the perfect spot to work or relax. Truly one of the best places in town!

I'll have to admit: My quest for free WiFi drove me to Dose in Old Hickory Village. During the worst weather I've experienced in decades, my power and Internet were out for 12 days. Just a stone's throw from the post office, I spotted Dose. Inside I found a full menu and good variety of coffee drinks. I ordered the Cheddar Biscuit with an add-on of turkey along with the house coffee. WOW! This biscuit is huge with a good piece of turkey that wasn't the typical thin and preserved slice, it was more like a slice of mom's turkey at Thanksgiving. I hung out for several hours and got work completed on my laptop. The environment is comfortable, the music was a bit noisy and a little on the heavy rock side. There isn't any acoustical noise absorbing material anywhere and with a concrete floor and walls, noise reflection abounds. When noticing the overall clientele during my second visit, I think a better, softer variety of music would make customers feel more relaxed. If you're listening to headphone audio, you may have a hard time with your listening considering the multiple acoustic considerations. In my years of working with businesses, employees of restaurants and cafes often don't consider how their personal music taste and volume level can be a deterrent to the customer experience. During this second visit I ordered the Breakfast Burrito with decaf coffee. Once again, I was very impressed with what this kitchen is capable of serving. This entree was served in a grilled tortilla stuffed with home fries, sharp cheddar cheese, a green chili sauce, scrambled egg, and I added a melange of tomato, bell pepper, and onion. It was topped with a cilantro creama drizzle. Totally delicious! The tortilla being grilled isn't mentioned on the menu but it made this entree a big hit! The store doesn't have brewed decaf coffee but a pour-over ($5.00) was offered. That seems to be a little over-the-top presumably without a free refill. It arrived less than hot, yet overall it had a good flavor. The 12 oz. brewed house coffee ($3.50) is only available until 1 pm, which I find odd for a place that is open until 5 pm daily.
