Diners overwhelmingly call out the signature dish as the must-order. The vibe reads as vegan restaurant — service is consistently described as warm and unhurried. Common gotcha: queues form at peak times — go early or late.

Excerpts

Without being able to taste everything, I can tell that El Gato Azul focuses their menu on authentic and intricate flavors. In my experience, it's difficult to have an extensive menu and also have a consitent quality of food. I'm not sure if I went on an off day, but every single meat-related dish we were served was very over cooked. As in, very dry and difficult to enjoy. Using the beef and blue street tacos as one example, if the meat wasn't overcooked, I could see myself enjoying the dish. It also had a lot of pickled red onions, which wasn't bad, but it overpowered every other flavor. I will say that every single seafood item was cooked absolutely perfectly. The crab cakes, tiger shrimp, and mussels did not fail. Also, their chips and salsa were surprisingly good; with a good amount of spice and it wasn't very chunky or runny. In general, this seems like a great spot for a quick lunch at reasonable prices. I could see myself returning here if I lived nearby.

It is better if you have a reservation. The day we went they were under staffed but everyone was doing their best to give a good service . We had to wait a little more than usual for our food but it was totally worth the wait. Their tapas are very diverse, so for sure everyone in your group will find something good to eat.

What an amazing experience. The wait staff was super kind and attentive. The food was amazing. Go the tapas route and share the plates. You can eat here every day for a month and have a unique experience. The chicken was melt-in-your-mouth tender and the pork… incredible. One of our favorite experiences. Will be back again and will tell everyone we know probably more than once. Some pictures were after we ate some, sorry… couldn’t be helped.
