Classic, classic, classic of the old classic places to go in Denver. Since youth years, the restaurant was flooded and rebuilt, and what a joy to have a small touch of it to enjoy. Food- tremendous (first lox and bagels eaten that had the best egg to top it, and everything so fresh). Service-wonderful! Visit only when you're not in a rush to fully enjoy what this place gives for food, service, and the always historical live music (trumpet, bass, and guitar). In the old days it was a fancy place for dinner, big band music, and dancing lol. I think the new opening is only open for breakfast, which is such a treat. In all, I probably would've rated the visit a 4.8 since the bathroom by the Tavern and by Ellyngton's had some fixtures gone or not working, but quite minor in comparison to the visit.

Ellington’s looks charming from the outside, but the experience inside was a letdown overall. The interior felt very dull and lacked the warmth or atmosphere we expected. The biggest issue was communication. One of the days we were scheduled to dine there, the restaurant was closed for a private event—but neither Ellington’s nor the hotel informed us ahead of time. We only found out when we arrived for our reservation, which was incredibly frustrating. The hostess we encountered was also quite rude, which added to the disappointment. That said, the food itself was genuinely very good, though many items felt overpriced for what was served. Our waiter, however, was exceptional—kind, attentive, and extremely accommodating, even as our group continued to grow. He was the highlight of the experience.

Crab Cake Benedict and biscuit and gravy were both outstanding. Crab cakes had a wonderfully crisp outer crust and full of crab - not filler. They were topped with beautifully poached eggs. Everything tasted very fresh. Staff is friendly and attentive. The remodeled interior has a clean, sleek, yet elegant feel.
