Diners overwhelmingly call out the signature dish as the must-order. The vibe reads as vegan restaurant — service is consistently described as warm and unhurried. Common gotcha: queues form at peak times — go early or late.

Excerpts

This was this best steakhouse I’ve ever been to in my whole life. The filet mignon was amazing. You could cut through with a butter knife. (if you wanted to) It has a crispy outer-layer. It was just perfect. Their fondue was to die for. 10/10 recommend! No wait on Wednesday if you set at the bar in the red room. However, they may be busy next time because boy oh boy was it worth it. The price is pricey but it’s worth it in the end.

This was our first time at Flame and I went in with rather high expectations. The atmosphere (for the most part) and service were great but the food was another story. I ordered the 6oz American Wagyu and it was great, but the thing is… it was great because it was a great cut of meat. It would have also been just as phenomenal at any other restaurant that serves Wagyu. My husband had the KC strip and his was mediocre at best. Our biggest complaint was the sides. Flame treats its sides as an after thought and what was served was frankly verging on inedible. The lyonnaise potatoes were stale and very “salt forward” to put it nicely. Meanwhile, my husbands twice baked potato appeared to have sat under a warmer for quite some time before being served and was hard in several places. It is odd how little they seemed to care as the size of the sides is oddly large for an upscale restaurant. I was also disappointed in plating. Reputation led me to believe Flame was a step above other restaurants in Springfield so I expected presentation to be on par with that. It just came across as lacking any soul or care. There are some restaurants where you can immediately tell “this place loves its food” and unfortunately Flame has lost that.

In town for a family wedding and wanted a quick but special dinner for our 9th wedding anniversary…a google search of best restaurants directed us to Flame and everything was delicious! The crust on my filet was perfect, I loved my Flirtini, the potatoes, the dessert, everything was wonderful. Jace took great care of us, he knew the menu well, we took his suggestions and loved everything. Tonight’s hostess Riley was very sweet and took a beautiful picture of us, too! Hats off to the entire staff, can’t say enough good things! Thank you for a fantastic evening!
