Diners overwhelmingly call out the signature dish as the must-order. The vibe reads as vegan restaurant — service is consistently described as warm and unhurried. Common gotcha: queues form at peak times — go early or late.

Excerpts

We ordered takeout on New Year’s Eve and really enjoyed our dinner. Tandoori chicken was tender and flavorful, dal Majarani had lots of interesting spices and just the right amount of heat (you choose how hot you want it). Naan was soft, warm and delicious. I was visiting from San Francisco where there are lots of options and would order from Flavor of India next time I’m in town!

Butter chicken was delicious, because they used a chicken thigh but with zero fat. Lamb with onion, mushroom, peppers is excellent. Garlic Naan bread was eaten in its entirety. Non-vegetarian sampler was fun to try. The lamb sausages had the best flavor and the samosa (lamb filled) had a great crunch. The samosa was the size of a fist ('was' because I ate it). This place is so good I will eat everything in front of me. I highly recommend this restaurant.

I have eaten a lot of Indian food. Once, we even traveled through India, just to experience all the different kinds of food. And I think the quality and taste of the food at flavor of India is fabulous. It is as good as the food we tasted in fancy restaurants in New Delhi and Bombay. We are very lucky that they decided to open A restaurant here. And from some of the tables you even have views of the Catalina’s.
