We ordered catering food from Foods of the Mediterranean for a family event. Jimmy and his team were fabulous to work with. The food, in addition to being generous portions, was fresh, tasty and special.

Foods of the Mediterranean is a non-negotiable stop for me every time I’m at the Allentown Farmers Market. The name almost undersells it. Sure, you can get all the “usual” Mediterranean hits that most Americans think of - gyros, shawarma, hummus, tabbouleh, grape leaves. But then you open the menu and realize it’s a whole tour of the region on one board: Egyptian, Lebanese, Greek, vegetarian, vegan, gluten free, salads and sides for days. It’s one of those places where you kind of want to order one of everything just to see what you’ve been missing. My personal obsession is their Koushere. It tastes exactly like the Koshari I had in Cairo - layers of lentils, chickpeas, rice, pasta, fried onion, and that addictive tomato sauce. I found out the owners are Egyptian and that this is a recipe that goes back thousands of years that they brought with them to the U.S. You can really taste that kind of history and pride in their food. We are seriously lucky to have this spot in the Lehigh Valley. If you like Mediterranean food at all - or think you do because you’ve only had a basic gyro - go here, explore the menu, and eat, eat, eat. Oh yea, try the Fattoush too!
