I recently tried Gold Bowl Chinese Restaurant in Fitchburg and had a mixed but ultimately disappointing experience. The biggest issues were with the fried items. The jumbo fried shrimp were extremely heavy with batter and grease, to the point where the shrimp itself was overwhelmed. The crab rangoons had the same problem, overly thick, greasy, and lacking the light crisp texture you would expect. I have attached photos that show just how excessive the batter was. The chicken wings were also a letdown. They tasted like they had been marinated in far too strong a concentration of teriyaki sauce, making them overly salty and unbalanced. There were a few bright spots. The Vegetarian Delight was actually quite good, fresh, well seasoned, and not oily. The shrimp fried rice and egg rolls were solid and ended up being the best items we ordered. Overall, the meal leaned too heavily toward greasy and overly salted dishes to rate higher. With better control over batter, oil, and seasoning, this could be a much better restaurant, but as it stands, it falls below average.

We usually go in and eat in the dining room, but today we ordered takeout with delivery. We all ordered off the chefs specialty menu. I tried E 4 general tsos chicken with jumbo shrimp and white rice. It was Amazing! We also got E 2 with sesame chicken. E 5 with pork, shrimp, beef, chicken. We all absolutely loved our food...:-)

Went to dine in and the woman at the counter was surprised by us wanting to eat there. She gave us two crappy paper menus and ask us to “find a table and comeback to the counter to place our order”. Not the experience we were looking for, so we left 10 seconds after “finding our table”. They didn’t even bother seeing us leaving. Can’t rate the food but seems a place for just order to go.
