Diners overwhelmingly call out the signature dish as the must-order. The vibe reads as vegan restaurant — service is consistently described as warm and unhurried. Common gotcha: queues form at peak times — go early or late.

Excerpts

I was blown away by this place. The owner was so kind and explained the dishes. The whole place is vegan/vegetarian - no meat They were out of the bread for the plate so he made us a sandwich for it and it was delicious! The food here is authentic and if I lived nearby I’d want to eat here everyday. I also can’t stress how affordable it is which is a God send during these times. You get a lot of food! It’s worth every penny. The place is small and it looks like the owner uses the money from this place to put towards the temple and feeding the homeless. Who doesn’t want to be apart of that?

Just discovered the most WONDERFUL Indian vegan restaurant: GOVINDA. Super delicious. Super cheap. A little hole in the wall off the beaten track with food made from a scratch by priests of the local Hindu Temple. And they donate and personally distribute food to the homeless in Richmond! Support them - your heart and belly will thank you! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Great food, quality and taste. Everything you eat is a prasad, so nice.
