I love Grass Rootes! A great spot for dinner, lunch or brunch. I always get shrimp here because they cook it perfectly every time! I don’t drink alcohol so being able to get a mocktail while my friends have cocktails makes me feel like I’m part of the group! 🤣 The shrimp and grits is good! The andouille sauce is spicey!! I’m glad the waitress recommended to put it on the side! I love the atmosphere here. Sometimes they have a live musician. The vibes are great! Staff is friendly! We were laughing because we felt like the servers came to check on us a little too often. They were just very thorough to make sure we were doing ok! For a restaurant I really like the bathroom needs some TLC. It’s nasty.

We came to Culpeper to celebrate our anniversary, and Grass Rootes absolutely did not disappoint. We started with a glass of wine and the fried oysters, which were divine—perfectly cooked and paired beautifully with a remoulade sauce. The atmosphere is wonderful: cozy and quaint with a rustic feel and a wood-burning fireplace that really sets the tone. For dinner, we had the pan-seared salmon and the chicken Parmesan, and holy hell—this was one of the best meals we’ve had out in a LONG time. We’re foodies and often prefer to cook at home, but this dinner completely exceeded our expectations. We ordered dessert to go, and our wonderful server surprised us with a celebratory dessert for our anniversary, which was such a thoughtful touch. Incredible service, amazing food, and a fabulous atmosphere. We will absolutely be returning and highly recommend Grass Rootes to anyone visiting the area.

While on the road as a traveling photographer, I found this establishment. Immediately I fell in Love! The ambiance was original & hometown feeling, can't say enough about this place. Went out of my way just to go here. It was a beautiful day, the sun was out, so I sat out on the back deck. I ordered the chowder and a glass of wine. After a few minutes, a gentleman walked over and asked me how my chowder was. I said it's not very hot. When he came back, he said "I'm one of the 3 bears". I about fell out!
