Diners overwhelmingly call out the signature dish as the must-order. The vibe reads as vegan restaurant — service is consistently described as warm and unhurried. Common gotcha: queues form at peak times — go early or late.

Excerpts

10-3-25 dining at the Great Wall King Buffet Pricing: (Drinks are included in the pricing) Monday - Friday, lunch, 11:00pm-3:30pm, $15.71 Monday - Friday, dinner 3:30-8:00pm, $17.56 ($19.00 with tax) Weekends and Holidays, $17.56 ($19.00 with tax) All in all, it was worth $19.00 for the food and drinks. The food selection is a little less than what I’m used to at a Chinese buffet, but this is Kankakee, and I’m used to more Chicago area venues. That said, I did not think the food selection was lacking. The good: - the plate clearing ladies were friendly - I like that you pay at entrance before you sit down to eat - the buffet and eating area were clean - the food was fresh and plentiful (I was there at 5:30pm on a Friday) The bad: - there is no sushi - there is no hibachi grill - the seafood salad (one of my favorite items), was had significantly too much mayonnaise - bathroom was not the best kept (as an aside, this bathroom had the most caulk applied that I’ve ever seen in a bathroom - it may be worth going just to see how much caulk was used in the bathroom!) Miscellaneous comments: - there’s a whole back room, so you could have an event here

Some of the best Chinese food I've had in a while! Always nice to be traveling for work and to find a place like this. It helped that my coworker and I get along great, so it was a very enjoyable evening. I know we over stayed at our table, but a healthy tip makes up for that! Would highly recommend. Crab ragoon is incredible!!!

One of the better Chinese restaurants in the area. After spending a few years looking for one (and mostly going north for Chinese food), I think we found a good option close to home. So let’s cover all the important details that make this a solid Chinese option: **Did it make me sick/potential for food poisoning? Haven’t gotten sick from the food and I have ordered atleast 3 times. That’s a pretty high success rate for any Chinese restaurant. As someone who will toss a meal if the orange chicken doesn’t look right or has a weird texture, I can assure you, their chicken is cooked correctly. I think we’ve all gone to a Chinese restaurant and have gotten one of those larger chicken pieces that had us questioning our future after taking a bite. Not here, smaller pieces that are cooked through. Great flavor. No issues with food. ***How long did it take? It takes me about 10 minutes to get there. I ordered online everytime and left immediately after ordering. They are fast. ***Location? Parking? Travel Risks? Located next to Berkots. Easy to get to. Parking lot is never filled, but does give very subtle horror movie vibes. Inside/Dine-In/Cleanliness? Haven’t dined in yet, but they look like they have a pretty big Buffet selection. The inside is spacious and doesn’t seem crammed. When you walk in, you go straight to the front counter which is sectioned off from customers eating in. Easy to just get in and get out. ***Return customer? Been there 3 times already and I will continue to order from this location without issue. If you are looking for a good Chinese restaurant with quick take out, this is your place.
