My wife invited me here. It was my first time and I really enjoyed it. I ordered the spicy dynamite sushi roll and I thought it was unique. We both love the ambience and their staff was very accommodating. We both agreed on what they serve was authentic. We enjoyed our stay and we’ll definitely be back. Highly recommended for those who are looking a small authentic Japanese restaurant.

I stop at Hayashi’s for lunch on a Saturday. Only one table was occupied, so I got a seat right away. The menu offered a wide selection of items to choose from. I ordered two of the special rolls and a green tea, and they arrived at the table promptly. The rolls were good but not outstanding. I went to the women's bathroom and found it needed some cleaning, although it was spacious. Hayashi has very good service, a special menu, and is well-decorated. They just need to make their rolls extraordinary.

My bf and I are self proclaimed sushi connoisseurs. We’ve tried MANY places over the years in the Chicagoland area. We are not shy of cost either! We have spent big bucks on sushi! No problem for us! This place was our first date a few years ago and it was very good (not THE BEST, But very good and reliable) The food has SEVERELY went downhill and when we tried it today it immediately became the worst sushi restaurant we ever had. we usually have a big appetite. We were hoping for some good leftovers for the next day as well, so ordered extra. We were sorely disappointed when we saw the plate of sushi arrive! We hate wasting food but we could not even stand to look at the plate In fact, we couldn’t wait for them to take it away! After leaving, the further we drove away from the place…the better we felt lol The look of it could be described that of head cheese with a bunch of mayonnaise squirted on top of it. It was a shame! because some of the pieces of sashimi looked very nice, but they were doused in watery mayonnaise. I really didn’t even know what I was eating. There was hardly any meat inside of the sushi except for “fillers.” The sushi that had Panko crunch on top was literally a mountain of Panko. With more sauce squirted on top, which was absorbed by the Panko. It just looked like a huge hot “sushi” mess. The “sushi” would fall apart and stick to the other rolls when you tried picking it up we did not even want to mess with it. And to be honest, we are not picky eaters. But this was not genuine sushi… tried one piece of everything to no avail. The tamago tasted like it was thawed out of the freezer. We were actually laughing about it. It was so bad. I wish I ate my baby’s food I brought with for him. Lolol However, the waitress was a very nice lady, not her fault. She was not the owner. She was very accommodating and polite and did everything she could to make things better. Sweet lady! She did nothing wrong. I absolutely would not recommend this place. It looked like a pile of garbage on a plate. Absolutely horrendous.
