Diners overwhelmingly call out the signature dish as the must-order. The vibe reads as vegan restaurant — service is consistently described as warm and unhurried. Common gotcha: queues form at peak times — go early or late.

Excerpts

We had Pedro as our waiter and he was extremely friendly and attentive. One critique is that it took awhile to get our drinks. We thought we would get the drinks and be able to start enjoying them while waiting for our food. But the drinks didn’t come out until right before our food was delivered. Caramel frappe - 5/5. I was surprised by how good the frappe was. I would definitely order this again. Mocha - 2.5/5. This one was not very delicious. It didn’t have much mocha flavor, I wouldn’t order it again. Bourbon shrimp and rice - 5/5. This meal was delicious. It was bursting with flavor and they put a good amount of shrimp. I would highly recommend this dish. Chicken and waffle - 2.5/5. The waffle was good. The chicken was honestly not great. It tasted like it was cooked in old grease or something, it just had an off-putting flavor. Additionally, it was very bland. It tasted like they didn’t season the chicken/batter before cooking, and they shook some seasoning on it after it was cooked. But it really didn’t help. I wouldn’t order the chicken again. I’m glad I finally got to try this place. I would go back to try other menu items.

My husband and I visited here on 8/8/25 because he saw great reviews on check please and this is a black own business. Well I’m going to jump right in. This seems to be a decent size restaurant although it appears only a small area was open during our visit. We were seated immediately. Our waitress Jay was very kind and attentive. Our fried green tomatoes came back quickly. They were sliced thickly and very hot! The ranch dressing was not good at all but the other dressing was good. The appearance of the steak and eggs wasn’t appealing to the eye, the temperature was good and the steak was tender however it lacked flavor, the taste was bland. The fried catfish was piping hot, crunchy and very meaty but it lacked seasoning. The red beans and rice was warm didn’t taste fresh and had a vinegar taste. The roasted potatoes with red and green peppers were also only warm and lacked seasoning I added salt and pepper which did make them taste better. I really appreciated the chef walking around table to table asking if everything was ok however his appearance need to be polished he was wearing a baseball cap cocked to the side and saggy shorts. The dining area was acceptable for this being a community cafe.
