Diners overwhelmingly call out the signature dish as the must-order. The vibe reads as vegan restaurant — service is consistently described as warm and unhurried. Common gotcha: queues form at peak times — go early or late.

Excerpts

I ordered a pecan waffle. It was hard as a rock. I had a hard time cutting it with a knife. Even with syrup i had to saw at it. Not food at all. Ordered hot tea and brought me 3/4 of a cup and no waters for either of us which most restaurants do. I Had to ask twice for a water and i.know she heard me because she sropped and looked at me. My husbands lasagna was good. Bathroom was not bad but smelled bad

Hmm, here we go again - another unhappy experience at Hometown Cafe. This time the Pork Chop came out of the kitchen raw, still pink. Why, as a customer am I getting raw food out of the kitchen? The bad part about it, I waited 25 minutes before the meal was delivered to the table. The waitress sat me at 10:05am, two more was sat at 10:15am, ten minutes later their food came out. HMM At 10:35am the 2 Pork Chop breakfast finally came to the table. I had to eat quick because class starts at 11am, after eating half of the first pork chop, I see pink. I'm like WOW! I just put this in my stomach trying to eat one of the pork chop before leaving for class. One of the staff asked me was I okay, I told her "NO" and showed her why. She took the raw pork chop and only charged me for one pork chop, hash brown, and eggs. I was soo unhappy with customer experience and the food quality. This is one place my family and friends would be very unhappy. If you didn't want me to spend my money there, just post a sign big enough so people like me will know not to support your establishment. Oh, I was late for class due to me vomitting that raw pork out my system.

My wife and I stopped here for dinner. I had the best chicken fried steak that I have eaten in ages. The wait staff were friendly and attentive. The portions were more than enough. Was traveling on vacation when we came across this restaurant. My wife loved her meal as well. It was more than she could eat, so took a portion back to our hotel. Definitely recommend!
