Diners overwhelmingly call out the signature dish as the must-order. The vibe reads as vegan restaurant — service is consistently described as warm and unhurried. Common gotcha: queues form at peak times — go early or late.

Excerpts

In town for a wedding and stopped for breakfast and it was packed. We had the chorizo omelet and country fried steak skillet. Both were excellent! The omelette was so well made and folded beautifully (details matter). The skillet was still steaming hot when we were putting it in the box to take it with us! Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. Our experience here just added to the entire weekend!

The service is slow and casual. No rush on anything. The food, while it may look good, was not to par for the price. The country fried steak was thin and dry, the soup had flour chunks in it. The biscuits and gravy, the biscuits look wonderful. Great presentation, but the gravy is watery and taste like flour with a hint of pepper. The French toast looked different. Thats all I'll say. The reuben. It was pretty good. There is something slightly off about that sandwich as a faint taste that shouldn't be there sort of thing but overall it was alright. McCallister has the best reuben so far. Try it out, tis just my opinion. The pictures are of us being done eating and we are ones to lick the plate so to speak so if this says anything.

The food was better than average, but still pretty average. When food is delivered by refrigerator truck, warmed and served, three stars is the ceiling for reviews. If the biscuits and gravy are made from scratch, that's usually worthy of four stars. When biscuits and gravy are made from scratch and taste great, that's a five star restaurant. Unfortunately most people aren't willing to pay the market price for fresh food. I don't blame the restaurant, and realize the restaurant market and economy for what it is. Personally, I'd still pay more for fresh and from scratch. Fight the truck-biscuit!
