Diners overwhelmingly call out the signature dish as the must-order. The vibe reads as vegan restaurant — service is consistently described as warm and unhurried. Common gotcha: queues form at peak times — go early or late.

Excerpts

Best thing about it was how quiet it was. The lady said they have a new cook, id recommend they hire one that knows their way around the grill. Nasty sandwich cheese, the hashbrowns were under cooked, and the french toast sat in the serve window for over 10 minutes because they couldnt figure out how to make an omelette. Service is this slow all over greenwood though so I guess its at least better than the waffle house service. Still havent been offered a coffee refill, its been about an hour at this point.

*****UPDATE***** 07/18/2025 They have a brand new menu and everything just about everything. I had done a review on they no longer have it looks like it’s all store ball and it is nasty. That’s my final thought! I can’t believe they changed it. The fish look like the cod patties that you buy at the store. The shrimp is not seasoned, they took away the roast beef. We will not be going back! Iron Skillet Restaurant – Shreveport, LA Location: 6910 W Bert Kouns Industrial Loop, Shreveport, LA 71129 Located in: Petro Travel Center (across from QT) Hours: Open daily, closes at 9 PM Rating: 5/5 This is my second time eating at the Iron Skillet in Shreveport, and I have to say—this spot is a hidden gem. The food is absolutely amazing, and the service is just as impressive. Food: Every dish I’ve tried so far has been seasoned to perfection. The pilaf rice is flavorful and cooked just right, the beef is fall-apart tender, and the catfish? Unmatched. I’ve also had the chicken fried steak, and it was delicious. The only thing I didn’t care for was the garlic bread—it was very strong on the garlic. Too much for me, but others who love bold garlic might enjoy it. Service: Shoutout to Derek, the cook—he’s truly talented and takes pride in every plate. You can taste the love he puts into the food. David, our server, was friendly, professional, and attentive both times we’ve visited. The staff overall is on point. Atmosphere: Even though it’s connected to a gas station and a casino, don’t let that fool you. This place is clean, comfortable, and worth the stop. It’s easy to miss, but once you eat here, you’ll be back. We were originally headed somewhere else, but it was too packed—so we came here again instead. Now we’ve decided Iron Skillet is our go-to spot. Final Thoughts: This place is seriously overlooked. If you’re in the area or just passing through, don’t sleep on it. Support this business—you won’t regret it.
