Jot India Restaurant | Newport

Came in on labor day Monday evening with my girlfriend as we wanted to try a new Indian restaurant. As soon as we came in, the smell of delightful food filled our nostrils. The restaurant has a very big showcase of liquors and drinks with plenty of seating. It also is clean and the staff is very friendly. Opposed to other Indian restaurant that we have visited, this one had a very attentive service. Our server came back and checked on us often. We first ordered the chicken tikka masala with garlic naan and it was very vibrant. The sauce had depth in flavor and the chicken was tender. Our second entree was the butter chicken and the chicken cubes that it comes with are tender bites. The sauce was more transparent in flavor though. I could taste the chicken on this dish which usually is cancelled out by the sauce. All in all it was clean, with great service, and great food. Will come back if I’m ever in the area!

Located in an unassuming shopping plaza in Newport, Jot Indian is truly a hidden gem. The food is consistently fresh, flavorful, and served hot. I’ve had Jot several times for takeout, but this was my first time dining in — and it definitely won’t be the last. We started with the vegetable samosa, which was crisp, well-seasoned, and delicious. For our main dishes, we ordered the saag paneer and chicken tikka masala — both were excellent. Rich in flavor, perfectly spiced, and served piping hot. The service was top-notch. The staff was attentive without being overbearing, and the entire dining experience was relaxed and enjoyable. Prices are very reasonable, especially for the quality and quantity of food you receive. If you enjoy Indian cuisine, Jot Indian is absolutely worth a visit. Highly recommended — can’t wait to come back!
