Diners overwhelmingly call out the signature dish as the must-order. The vibe reads as vegan restaurant — service is consistently described as warm and unhurried. Common gotcha: queues form at peak times — go early or late.

Excerpts

My wife and I found this place by accident on our way back to the airport, and we weren't let down by it. We sat out front and had a drink, first, but kept watching all the delicious looking food coming out, so decided to have a look ourselves. We both had a burrito, one pork and one shrimp. When it came out it had refried beans, rice, and salad. Inside, there were the salsas and sauces which you could help yourself to. We shared them and had half each of the burritos, and the pork one was gorgeous, better than the shrimp, but I think that's because my wife out a hot salsa over it disguising the flavours. Anyway, there was so much she couldn't eat all of hers, and I don't like to see good food go to waste, so finished hers, too. The man behind the counter was very helpful, and the girls running round with the food, they were on their toes, they had to be, it was so busy. Next time I'm in Tucson, I'm definitely going back there. I'd paid a lot more $$ for less of a meal, and not as good as here. It seems to get busy talking to a few other people who go there regularly, so I'd say get there early to get a seat. We'll done, everyone associated with La Chaiteria, and keep it up. And as you can see from my pic, there's a good vegan menu on the board, too.

We went here on a whim and we were not disappointed. The food was fresh and flavorful & appreciated that it was locally sourced and clean ingredients. They also had an impressive vegan menu. I’m gluten free and much of the menu was safe. We ordered the barbacoa plate and a turmeric lemonade and it was delish. The barbacoa was a bit on the salty side so if that isn’t your thing you may want to go with something else. The Turmeric Lemonade was DELISH. What a great flavor pairing. The staff was friendly and very helpful with the menu. There’s an outdoor patio but note that it’s a high traffic area so it’s a very “city” ambiance. We really liked this spot and would definitely come back!

La Chaitería is a must-visit Menlo Park gem near A Mountain—locally owned, scratch-made, and full of creative dishes rotating dishes. We ordered the Duck Chilaquiles, Mahi-Mahi Fish Tacos, and Tamales (Carne Con Chile and Chicken with Green Chilies), all served with creamy Refried Beans with Cotija Cheese, Spanish Rice, and Side Salad of Fresh Greens with Balsamic Vinaigrette. The Duck Chilaquiles were the true standout—slow-cooked duck for 3 days with onions, poblanos, beans, and eggs. The Fish Tacos were light, perfectly cooked and flavorful. And the Chicken & Beef Tamales were comforting and delicious. Drinks are also impressive: scratch-made, including lattes, aguas frescas, smoothies and fresh-pressed juices. They offer both vegan and meat options, including vegan chilaquiles, jackfruit-based dishes, and vegetable-forward tacos. It’s an excellent place for mixed-diet groups. Fantastic, fast, friendly service and great outdoor seating out front and on a covered back patio. And a great vibe with colorful murals and art. If you’re searching for fresh, scratch-made Mexican food in Tucson, La Chaitería deserves to be at the top of your list! Creative menu, seasonal, locally-sourced ingredients, and the Best Chilaquiles in Tucson! Highly recommended!
