Diners overwhelmingly call out the signature dish as the must-order. The vibe reads as vegan restaurant — service is consistently described as warm and unhurried. Common gotcha: queues form at peak times — go early or late.

Excerpts

I've never had a bad experience here. The food, service, atmosphere is always good. Definitely worth a visit. So many delicious things to try but some of my favorites are the Spanish omelet (tortilla epaniola), the mussels, lentil soup, garlic bread, beef empanadas, spinach empanadas, all so delicious, flavorfull and prepared with care. The atmosphere feels like home. Service is never rushed. Staff is always pleasant. Dont forget to try the Sangria too. so good.

La Vieja Castilla is a great little spot in Blue Island. The place feels really cozy and welcoming, perfect for a relaxed meal. The seafood paella was amazing—super flavorful—and the empanadas and flan were just as good. You can tell they put a lot of care into their food and service. The staff was friendly and attentive, and the vibe of the restaurant makes you want to come back. Definitely worth checking out if you’re in the area and craving some good Spanish food.

Such a gem with a cute cozy vibe. This small mom and pop restaurant has taste and a personal touch when the chef comes out to check on you. Food is flavorful and a variety of tapas. The wings are huge and juicy! If you're looking to support small latin owned businesses La Vieja is worth trying!
