Diners overwhelmingly call out the signature dish as the must-order. The vibe reads as vegan restaurant — service is consistently described as warm and unhurried. Common gotcha: queues form at peak times — go early or late.

Excerpts

What a surprise this place was ❤️‍🔥🤌 I Took my fiance here for our first Valentines day and our first time here to The Lucky Rooster 🐓 🍀 💝 The atmosphere wasn’t what we expected for the food and hospitality we received. It was very welcoming and simple ,but the food was like you were at a real Italian restaurant 🍝 🤌 We had risotto, wagyu and sirloin along with a hazelnut tart dessert that was utterly unbelievable! The espresso martini was one of the best I’ve ever had ☕️ 🍸 The wine was delicious as well 🍷 We live quite a hike from this location and it was a reservation I made not too far from an event we were attending at the Gilmore Car Museum which was a half hour or so from The Lucky Rooster. We will 100% come here again as we were so taken back by our wonderful server, friendly guests near us and the incredible dishes we were served. First impressions are everything and they did not disappoint on a day that was bustling with couples for a very popular occasion. Thank you again from us 💝💐🥂

The food was great, our server was excellent, and it was overall a wonderful experience. The menus are on tablets, and if you tap on the name of the dish, it opens up a window with the price, a photo, and a description. If I remember correctly, it also had recommended wine pairings for some of them. Pretty neat! We were seated right by the fireplace and I thought it was very cozy. I took some quick photos of our food, but didn't think of it soon enough for some of it-- for example, the baked brie with cherry compote (amazing) was gone before I thought of it, unfortunately. The pickle dip picture is from when it was almost gone. The pasta with the chicken cutlet was great, I loved the texture and flavor, and the slightly spicy vodka sauce went really well with it. Definitely get the peas with it, it was awesome. The polenta bites were crisp and tasty. The potato leek soup was creamy and delicious. We sampled some desserts, too. The little cookie skillet was delightful. I don't like coffee, so I didn't try the tiramisu, but I'm told it was great-- apparently the coffee taste was very mild, so maybe I should have tried it. The best dessert we tried, though, in my opinion, was the apple caramel sundae. It had candied walnuts on it that were just amazing. We were there on Christmas Eve for lunch, and there was some truly awful Christmas music playing the whole time, but it was pretty easy to tune out or laugh at. (Disco Christmas covers, the "Taking Care of Business" guy with his very lazy remake "Taking Care of Christmas," etc.) I hope the employees have some control over that, because it would be terrible to be trapped in the building for 8 hours with those songs on repeat.

We were really looking forward to dinner at Lucky Rooster after having had a delicious lunch there a few months ago. To say it was disappointing was an understatement. The salad was fine, but the burger was terrible. We asked for it medium, and it came out burned and overcooked. It was also very small in size, especially compared to both the picture in the menu as well as other burgers we saw come out. We pointed this out to our waitress who acknowledged that the burger was tiny and overcooked, but she then shrugged and walked away. Any other restaurant we’ve ever gone to would have offered to remake the meal, instead we were shrugged off and left to pay for a meal we essentially didn’t order. We were very much looking forward to dinner, and we understand that kitchens aren’t perfect. The lack of care on behalf of the restaurant as a whole is what made this a one-star experience overall.
