Diners overwhelmingly call out the signature dish as the must-order. The vibe reads as vegan restaurant — service is consistently described as warm and unhurried. Common gotcha: queues form at peak times — go early or late.

Excerpts

The highlight of my food experience is the fried coconut shrimp, so much flavor. The service was very good and he check in on us to see if we needed anything. The juicy pork dumplings (Xiao Long Bao) and the spicy wontons, which are flavorful fillings and delicate wrappers. Signature Dishes: The Shanghai pork ribs and beef rolls are consistent favorites, their tender texture and savory sauces. The seafood pan-fried noodles stand out for their crispy texture, and the scallion pancakes are often described as beautifully presented and flaky. Atmosphere and Service: The interior is spacious and light, featuring a modern aesthetic with art nouveau touches and an outdoor patio, while the service is generally described as efficient and hospitable. This location successfully blends the familiar, high-quality flavors of traditional Cantonese and Taiwanese-style cooking with a refined setting suitable for both casual family gatherings and more formal dinners. Consistent praise for the freshness of the ingredients and the variety of the menu makes it a reliable choice for those seeking comfort food in the Beverly Hills area.

We came here for a family-style dinner and ordered a good mix of dim sum and classic Chinese dishes, and overall it was a really solid experience. The soup dumplings were juicy with thin skins, and the shrimp dumplings were fresh and clean-tasting. We also had siu mai, which were nicely seasoned and not overly fatty. For mains, the stir-fried noodles were cooked well with good wok flavor, and the beef dish was tender and flavorful without being too heavy. The shrimp entrée had a nice balance of sweetness and texture as well. Portions were generous, making it great for sharing, and everything came out hot and well presented. The dining room feels more upscale than a typical dumpling house, which makes it a nice spot for a sit-down meal rather than just a quick bite.

My husband and I went out looking for a great dinner spot, and Mama Lu’s delivered! The restaurant was beautifully decorated for Christmas and felt laid back. The server was friendly and provided amazing recommendations. And as far as the food, the pictures don’t do it justice. Everything was delicious! My favorite was the duck with crispy skin, but my husband loved the bbq pork buns. The menu is extensive so it should have something for everyone!
