Diners overwhelmingly call out the signature dish as the must-order. The vibe reads as vegan restaurant — service is consistently described as warm and unhurried. Common gotcha: queues form at peak times — go early or late.

Excerpts

I LOVE McCalister’s. I’ve been eating this food since I was a college student at Baylor in 2011. One thing I can say, is that before today, my experiences have been almost identical no matter what location I went to. Here’s what stood out about this experience, and not in a good way… in a “is the owner going broke?” type of way: 1. There were hardly any vegetables on my spud. I’m a light eater and I have never finished my spud. I finished this one with ease because it was basically just potatoe cheese and onion.. with a little spinach and probably ONE piece of broccoli chopped up into like 6 tiny pieces. (See photo) 2. The pickle spears were… pickle strings? (See photo) 3. They put a $50 order in one bag. I was literally attacked by an avalanche of items when I untied the bad lol. Like just put the order in two bags man. All in all, I wasn’t going to write this review because the food TASTED good (which is why there’s still 3 stars instead of 2). How do we end up with this review? 4. My husband didn’t like the chili, which that isn’t the issue. The issue is I told him just go get something else because McAlister’s generally has great customer service. I’ve quite literally never had a downright NEGATIVE experience… it took him almost 10min to come back to the car because the young lady had to get her manager. The manager seemed more concerned with whether or not he had already eaten a certain amount of the food before replacing it. SIR… this was a $50 order and you’re tripping over a $3 cup of soup that was an add on to a sandwich. Honorable mention is that my grandmother’s club sandwich didn’t have the bread slice in the center lol. SS has such potential with where it’s nestled on 30. Customer service and quality consistent food is the solution.

The food is excellent. The service was fast and friendly. The atmosphere was pleasant. They didn't overdo the lighting like some restaurants and the seating was varied and we'll spaced. It was frigidly cold inside, however, like so many fast food places. One critique I have is with the practice of tipping BEFORE any service is rendered like so many pay-before-you-eat places. There needs to be a better solution to this issue. Beware also that their prices are a little bit high. We paid well over $30 for a salad and a sandwich and two regular size drinks.

Mr. Foster has created such a fun atmosphere! Even in a busy day like "Free Tea Day", he made sure to be among his employees and customers, doing rhe same work as everyone else. Haven did a great job with her face painting and being with my kids. When we went inside to eat, Nicole came over and welcomed us, listened to my kids go on and on 😅 its a great family like place! The decorations to celebrate were so fun!! Especially the McAlister's tea balloons!! Way bigger than last year's event. We loved the employee themed shirts with a Hawaiian style. It would have made more sense for them to wear Hawaiian style shorts, too, but everyone was so fun!!
