McMenamins Black Rabbit Restaurant

Brunch at Black Rabbit inside McMenamins Edgefield was such a lovely experience with my girlfriends. I ordered the banana French toast with eggs and sausage links. My only small complaint is that they don’t offer a non-pork sausage option I prefer turkey or chicken but they do have a vegetarian option available. Everything was warm, comforting, and satisfying. The cozy atmosphere was one of my favorite parts: great lighting, clean space, and we could actually hear each other without shouting. Our waitress was friendly and attentive, which made it even better. After brunch, we walked around Edgefield and enjoyed the gardens and scenery it turned a simple meal into a full, relaxing outing. Definitely a great spot for a cozy brunch.

I am blown away! This is the best meal of my life. We got the fish spread, both salads, wild boar (double yum, no knife required), and the ham. Service was exemplary. Holiday drinks were perfect. Ambiance is out of this world. This restaurant is homey not fancy at the same time. Staff were exceedingly nice and portions were generous.

First of all, we had an 11am reservation. Our orders for drinks weren’t taken until 11:25 and our food order was taken at 11:35. Our food came out cold an hour later. We were all so hungry that we didn’t want to complain and have to wait for replacements. We only had 3 satisfied family members at the table out of our party of 12 people eating. Speaking for myself, I got eggs Benedict with quite literally a drizzle of hollandaise. I asked for an extra side of it and it was cold, like straight out of the fridge. My husbands food was cold, everyone’s potato’s were cold. It was truly an extremely disappointing experience. This exact thing happened a year ago when we brought our family and we just shouldn’t have come back. A very expensive bill for a very disappointing meal.
