Diners overwhelmingly call out the signature dish as the must-order. The vibe reads as vegan restaurant — service is consistently described as warm and unhurried. Common gotcha: queues form at peak times — go early or late.

Excerpts

Stopped into Monarca in Medina today and thought the place looks cool inside. The décor is vibrant and has a butterfly , Frida Kahlo and Dia De Los Muertes vibe. The staff couldn’t have been more welcoming. I originally came for the Mexican street corn and also ended up trying the tortilla soup. It had just the right amount of spice and was loaded with shredded chicken. I also ordered the Tinga chicken tacos, which came in as 3 soft tacos. Great portion-size. We asked if they had any homemade hot sauce in the back, and they brought some out—great heat, great flavor. We got homemade guacamole, which tasted incredibly fresh, like something you’d get in Mexico. My lunch partner had the Barbados Street Tacos, and there wasn’t a single thing either of us could complain about. The prickly pear margarita was like being in the west !! Yum Will return.

What a pretty and comfy place to enjoy some creative Mexican dishes! We loved the lit tree in the middle. Margarita flight was very tasty! I had the street corn which was one of the best I’ve had anywhere. Tacos were really authentic tasting and even the rice was flavorful and moist! Our server was very friendly and helpful. I’d def recommend

Went for a multi-birthday, multi-generational dinner for 6 on a Sunday. Easy reservation process with a phone call. Service was great - seated part of our party early, kept them happy with drinks and chips and salsa, and were attentive and gracious even as the rest of us arrived and we took a while to get settled and decide on orders. Food came fast and was very good, all the birthday diners were especially happy with the seafood dish. Much appreciated! It had much more seating than it appeared to have from the front. Odd note: restrooms were really cold on a cold winter day (but hopefully you’re not spending much time in there.) Parking tip: although there is a small parking lot next to and behind the restaurant, most of the spots seemed to be labeled for other businesses. No problem, just park on the Square, in pull-in angled spots along the Square. I got a spot that was closer to the front door than parking behind the building anyway. Easy to find this place on the north side of Medina Square. Great food, atmosphere, service - and supporting a local business.
