Diners overwhelmingly call out the signature dish as the must-order. The vibe reads as vegan restaurant — service is consistently described as warm and unhurried. Common gotcha: queues form at peak times — go early or late.

Excerpts

Some of the best Indian food in Utah so far. This place is rated as one of the top restaurants in Utah as well. Started off with the chicken pakora appetizer which was delicious. We had the butter chicken and it was so flavorful and tender. Super filling as well! The garlic naan was fresh with a crispy outside and doughy center. The waiters are super fast and the food came out within minutes. We went on a Saturday around 3pm and there was no wait at all. Super empty and quiet. We will definitely be returning to this place. We loved the food here and want to try more items on the menu.

Mumbai House is the absolute best Indian food in Salt Lake City, Utah, look no further. The food alone speaks for itself, however, if you have the opportunity to dine in the atmosphere is very relaxed, romantic and beautifully decorated. The staff are always friendly and tentative. The food is flavorful and bold, the consistency is always on par and never disappointing. I always get the Paneer Makhani, it’s so silky and cravable, the texture and flavor doesn’t compare to any other. I always try something new each time I visit. Tonight I tried the Shahi Daal, the urad (black) lentils were cooked and seasoned to perfection. Some of the other dishes I recommend are vegetable samosas, malai kofta, paneer saag, aloo gobi and vegetable masala.

From the moment we approached the restaurant, enticing aromatics lured us further into the warmth of this authentic Salt Lake institution. It was as if I stepped into a tandoori oven, one with the curry. Mango lassi, so sweet, tantalized my taste buds. Dessert for drink? Yes, please! Our server, Bentley, took great care to offer recommendations for my vegetarian request (settling happily on vegetable makhani) and a fun option for our 7-year-old daughter (chicken pakora served with tamarind chutney - devoured). The restaurant was bustling but we didn’t have a wait and could hear each other as if we were in a more intimate setting. We tried three desserts: cardamom infused rice deliciousness, mango ice cream, and kulfi (pistachio ice cream), a soft landing to cool the spicy entrees.
