High marks all around for this quaint, comfy cafe. The sandwiches were great, and the desserts -- home made goodness... and what an assortment. Plenty of sunshine and a view of the river. As a side benefit you can tell your friends you ate at the courthouse where Abraham Lincoln visited.

First time trying this because brown bag bistro was closed. Very disappointed. EXTREMELY hot and humid in the building, took forever for our sandwiches to be made, despite them being the size of a small phone. Portions are tiny… for $15 a sandwich is sooooooo not worth it. They put a slice of bread inside of my MJD turkey sandwich to fill in the empty space, this feels like a $5 gas station sandwich. Will not be coming back. Just go to the sandwich shop down the street if you want a big, delicious and hot sandwich.

Update: I did the math. My Just Desserts found a way to get a (former) customer to pay full price for a single slice of stale mangled dessert that was thrown into the trash after two bites. I had thought maybe I would edit the review to say the brownie (or sheet cake, I'm not really sure) was actually good despite my bad experience. But, no. It tasted like something you'd make from a box and let your kid decorate then forgot about for five days. Looked bad, tasted bad, overall bad experience. I am giving two stars instead of one as I have enjoyed this restaurant in the past, where it will remain. I have been here many times before and it has always been great. I was excited to see that they were on a new favorite app, Too Good to Go. The concept of the app is that local restaurants and grocers can sell nearly expired items for a discount. The pies and cakes here are normally great, as well as soups and sandwiches. When I saw they were advertising 18 dollars worth of desserts for 6 dollars I immediately snapped up the deal. When I showed the young lady my app she went to the basement then came back up to the kitchen. A few minutes later I was given a single mangled dessert that looks like a Halloween themed brownie. Halloween was 5 days ago. I wouldn't pay 6 dollars for this, and if someone said Hey this is an 18 dollar dessert, I would say What are you insane? This was always a favorite spot to take my grandmothers. My mom likes it. My friends like it. I am totally soured now and won't be visiting again.
