Diners overwhelmingly call out the signature dish as the must-order. The vibe reads as vegan restaurant — service is consistently described as warm and unhurried. Common gotcha: queues form at peak times — go early or late.

Excerpts

Extremely disappointed to have received pieces of raw Tandoori salmon. Flavor was very bland, rancid smell, and was confused to see that there were carrots and cabbage (also not cooked enough) included. When ordering this same dish multiple times, I always received what I expected the first time trying it (grilled vegetables and a very flavorful cooked salmon)! However today’s experience has left me with a bitter taste in my mouth. Please do better Nirvana and send out what customers expect each time. Switching the recipes is not required of you.

A welcome addition to Chestnut Hill! We would go back and encourage you to give Nirvana a try. We dined in, the atmosphere was a bit more formal and quiet than expected. I recommend you call ahead for reservations as the dining room capacity is limited- though we were lucky enough to get a table without one. Bring cash if you wish to avoid a small credit card service fee. Onto the food! Everything was good, but maybe not the best if being critical. We ordered vegetable samosas, garlic naan, baigan bharta and alu saag. The samosas came out lukewarm and could have used better spice. The alu saag only had a few small pieces of potatoes and could have used more. The naan was good, you won’t be disappointed. They were accommodating with BYOB as well. Overall I would give the edge in flavor, service and value to New Era in Chestnut Hill. However I will come back to compare again and have no issues support them both!

Ordered samosa chaat and nirvana shahi paneer with butter naan. Delicious and flavorful!
